Arbor is Online!

Clearing 1, 2006, © Sandi Haber Fifield

I’m happy to announce that the inaugural RSVP exhibition has been launched on the gallery website, www.michaelmazzeo.com. Originally conceived as our “summer show”, it was not long after the submissions deadline that I knew the project would become larger than I had anticipated and that production time would need to be extended. Now, as we are about to enter the Fall gallery season, Arbor, a selection of images of trees, is online, complete with an e-commerce section for purchasing catalogs and prints.

The exhibition opens with Clearing 1, 2006, a photograph by Sandi Haber Fifield, which presents us with a portal leading through a grove of trees into sun-filled clearing. I was seduced by this image the moment I saw it, drawn in by the soft, assuring light, the gesture of the trees framing an entry to an uncertain, but providential refuge. After reading Sandi’s statement I was certain that I this would be the lead image in the show.

”Walking on the processional path to see the Oracle of Delphi, I noticed this dense thicket of olive trees arched above a clearing. It felt like the perfect entry to a place that is said to be the exact center of the Greek world.”
